Spring Meeting March 31
Where: Brickyard, Clear Lake
Time:  2:30PM
RSVP:  Ed Reilly
763-295-5130
Hello to all!
Well, as I am so fond of saying, “It’s another day closer to spring!”  And this time,
we’re really getting close.  Daylight Savings Time goes into effect on March 11th this year and
that sure works for me!
Thanks to Cris and Jeff, the CMCA Winter party at Anton’s went off beautifully.  There
was great turnout and a super time was had by all!  Tom Thoele, and son, Ben, came down
from Brainerd and had to rent a trailer to carry back all the prizes they won!  I don’t begrudge
Ben, but Tom….well!  It was really a ball!  (P.S.  Love those Popovers!)
I was out taking a look at the C5 the other day and, thinking of, and dreaming about,
warm weather, gentle rain to wash the salt off the roads, sunny skies and wide open roads.  I’m
adding some new performance brake pads this year and probably will add new aftermarket
rotors to go along with them.  Figured I should probably do that as I’ve spiced up overall per-
formance the last couple of years and want braking ability of the car to keep pace.  Also adding
new mats, a couple of interior pieces and thinking about another one or two appearance mods.
Will it never end?  I will say, one more time, as I said last year, and the year before, and the
year before that etc., etc., I have the car, both appearance and performance-wise just about
where I want it.  Probably never happen!
Our Annual Spring Meeting will begin at 2:30pm, Saturday, March 31 at the Brickyard
in Clear Lake on Highway 10.  Please keep your calendars open as this is the last big meeting
prior to the 2007 season, when upcoming plans are both made and finalized.  It is very impor-
tant that you attend.  Appetizers will be made available and this is also where the CMCA Ap-
parel Program orders will be distributed.
It’s also time to be thinking about hitting the road again.  Taking a run to a small town
and browsing through small shops.  I love throwing a bag in the car and taking a weekend
jaunt in any direction, without a destination in mind, and stopping half-way to anywhere, hav-
ing a glass of wine and dinner, staying the night at a local hotel, or, Bed and Breakfast, and
heading back in the morning.  No problem getting back, because…remember, you stopped
halfway.  These are the kinds of things that Corvette ownership, and friends you make with that
ownership, should be about.  Things that are good for the spirit.  It’s a great feeling!
And here comes summer!  I can take the car out and cruise, feeling good listening to
the engine, listening to the exhaust, and having some favorite tunes playing.  I love cruising
the freeway, or back roads, with several other Corvettes.  I love driving in a parade, and hear-
ing, “Rev it up!”; “Light ‘em up!”;“Wow!”; and “Hey, throw some candy over here!”.  We’ve got
some fun things to discuss and plan at the Spring Meeting.  We’re planning Spring and Fall
Cruises, both of which will be overnights.  How about a run to a winery, parades, Fort Snelling,
Coldstone, or any of a number of other places?  Want another lake or river cruise?  Say the
word.  It’s what Corvette ownership is all about…camaraderie.  This is YOUR club to do as YOU
desire. That’s what Corvette ownership, and CMCA membership, is about….food for the soul.
Speaking of food, the CMCA Chili Challenge, hosted by Holly and Brad Bohlen, was
held last Saturday.  Attendance was somewhat limited due to the weather, but the food was
great, and a hot time was had by all!  Brad assured me it was truly an Alka Seltzer evening!
A thought to keep you warm….Just remember, we’ll be pulling the cars out of hiberna-
tion shortly.  Another Corvette Summer is almost upon us!
See you Saturday, March 31!
