Happy Summer,
Well it’s Aug already I’m wondering where the summer has gone it seems
like it was just April when I brought my car to Murphy Chev to get some work done
on it and then we had a snow storm.  So much for that. We had some fun trips this
summer.  We just got back from the CO trip and it was great!  We had 12 cars and
we averaged about 2600 miles.  The first day we spent in North Platt and the sec-
ond day we arrived in Breckenridge about 4:00pm at the Pine Ridge Condos.   I
must say they were very nice  and a big thank you goes out to my sister for steering
us to the condos.  The second day we were off to Royal Gorge.  It was  about a 2.5
hr drive.   Duane lead us and the drive was very nice through the mountains. Then
we took the train ride on the mountain side and along the river.  It was a perfect
day, but a little hot, about 95 degrees.  It was great!  Day two we were off to Rocky
Mountain National Park.  It took  around  3 hrs to drive to Estes Park.  After leav-
ing we went to the highest part the Rocky Mountain National park and proceeded
down.  We saw Elk along the way down so we stopped and took some great pic-
tures which are in the newsletter. It was another great day.  Day 3 most of us went to
the car show in the morning  in Frisco and took it easy in the afternoon .  It was a
day of leisure.  The 4th day we were on our way home . It was trip to remember
and one I would do it again only stay longer. I would like to thank Duane , Jane and
Mary for all the work they done for the trip. Thank you!!  (the guys really liked the
condos for having a garden hose so each evening or early morning they could wash
those vettes!!)
We have may other trips or runs the rest of the year.  The 400 club this Friday ,
Murphy Picnic,  Duane and Jane’s Road Rally and the progressive lunch run.
There is also the Fall run so start those corvettes up and come join us.  It’s a great
time and  great people to get involved with. Don’t forget to start thinking about of
events for next year.  We need club members to host events.  It’s fun to put a event
together. As I sit here I received a call that one of Mary and I best friends passed
away this afternoon at the age of 59.  He had just retired in January.  This only tells
me one thing.  To enjoy life and don’t let the little things get you down because life
is short.
